The mayor of Teulada Moraira, Carlos Linares, presented this year's Medieval Market to the press and explained that the event serves two different purposes: first of all the Old Town is a place of cultural interest and the event upgrades its value and on the other hand it is an additional tourist attraction besides the beach and the sun. The streets of Teulada will go through a time machine and reflect the spirit of the medieval era. There will be activities, spectacles, gastronomy, music and medieval artisanry. This year there will be more music and local associations will play a more important role than in the past. Carlos Linares pointed out that the company in charge of the organisation has been carefully selected and total transparency was an importent issue during the whole process.
The market is open from August 10 through August 13, from 6:30pm to 1am. The gran' opening of the event takes place on August 10 at 7pm with a parade and visitors will be able to enjoy spectacles such as flying eagles, oriental dances, fakirs, squire formation, people stilting and crookbacks on every market day and there is also an agricultural exposition.
New in the programme are two theatre plays taking place on Friday the 11th presented by the theatre company "Ball de Sant Vito". "La sopa de pedres" at 9:30pm and "Simonet el mandrós" at 11:30pm.
Estrella Augustín, in charge of the organization, and Carlos Linares invite everybody to assist the event and enjoy the booths, the spectacles and the medieval ambience in the streets of Teulada.
